Connor McCaffety Rogers TX Death, Obituary – In a devastating incident that has rocked the small town of Rogers, Texas, a tragic car crash has claimed the lives of a beloved high school baseball player, Connor McCaffety, and both of his parents, Clint and Meghan McCaffety. The family was en route to a baseball game when their lives were cut short in a deadly crash involving a semi-truck.
The tragic event occurred on Monday evening, around 4:40 p.m., on Highway 36 near the Milam-Burleson County line. The McCaffetys were traveling in their Ford sedan through a construction zone when their vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler. The family had been attending a high school golf tournament in Brenham and were on their way to Rogers High School for Connor’s home baseball game when the crash happened.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that Clint, 43, and Meghan, 39, along with their son Connor, 16, were pronounced dead at the scene. Superintendent Duana Brashear of Rogers Independent School District confirmed Connor’s death and expressed deep sadness at the loss of the promising young athlete.
In her message shared via Facebook, Superintendent Brashear said, “Our hearts go out to everyone who is grieving this loss. Our entire district, and the communities we serve, are impacted by this loss.” Connor, a junior at Rogers High School, was not only a star on the baseball field but was also an accomplished student in the school’s agriculture program. Known for his dedication and strong work ethic, he was described as “pretty fantastic at everything.”
The crash occurred when the McCaffetys’ vehicle stopped in the westbound lane due to a construction zone. A Kia SUV stopped behind them, and tragically, the 26-year-old driver of the semitruck failed to stop in time, slamming into both vehicles. The impact resulted in the deaths of the McCaffetys, and the driver of the Kia, a 45-year-old woman, was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing, with authorities yet to determine why the semi-truck driver failed to stop. The 18-wheeler’s driver was uninjured, but his role in the accident remains under investigation.
The loss of the McCaffety family has sent shockwaves through the community, and additional counseling services are being made available to students and staff at Rogers High School. The family leaves behind a daughter, whose future now faces a profound loss.
This tragic accident has cast a shadow over the town, with many remembering the McCaffetys for their involvement in the community and their devotion to their family. The Rogers ISD community, in particular, is left to mourn the loss of a bright young talent who had so much promise.
